The surroundings of Solsona

If you like to walk and find yourself in the middle of nature, the surroundings of Solsona are the place indicated by you.

  • La Mare de la font and the font de la mina: The water from this source, formerly called the Mirabella, was the first to reach the Major source of Solsona. It is worth mentioning the 15th century stone bridge that formerly formed part of the canal that carried the water to the sources of Solsona. When you reach the middle of the Mare de la Font park, following a path that crosses the Bassella highway, you will reach the source of La Mina, a natural place of great beauty and very cool especially in the summer. This space offers a botanical itinerary, of about 600 m, that allows to know and observe various species of autochthonous native forest, alien plants and non-riverside species, such as oak or pineapple. In this environment there are animals such as the toilette, the pica-strains, the red-bush, the blackbird, the hedgehog or the weaving, among others.
  • El Castellvell: It is a castle that is located at the top of the Castellvell hill, 130 meters above the city of Solsona, thus being a first-order vantage point over all the Solsona vines and much of the Solsonés region. Nowadays, the castle of Solsona is still inhabited, and in a fairly good state of conservation. They continue to celebrate the Roseret gatherings, and every September 10 it is a tradition to carry out a pro-independence gathering, with a large starry sign hanging on the walls of the castle, and celebrating talks, to commemorate the day.

If you like hiking or bicycle trips, you can not miss the routes that these places offer:  Trekking or bicicle routes.
